Against The Wheel Broadcast

SixStopMusic – Against The Wheel ‘Broadcast’

Against the Wheel (ATW) released new EP “Broadcast” on 19th May 2012. They serve up 4 tracks that enhance an already well established ‘headliner’ in the unsigned scene, as masters in delivering a hard rock sound full of soaring melodies!

ATW kick off with ‘One of These Days You’ll Wake up’ which has a simmering start Nine Inch Nails would be proud of, exploding into an earth shattering anthemic chorus. The kind of track that could get a band signed! Running order is massively important in an EP and ATW have chosen perfectly as this track with the catchy line of “something original” themed throughout, is a perfect start and sets the bar for proceedings!

The next helping of ATW goodness is ‘Without You’. This is by far the most melodic track on offer with a thumping riff driving the chorus to great heights – Guitarist Dan Ratcliffe step on up, because tonight you are going to make a name for yourself!!

‘Help in Strange Places’ is where ATW slow proceedings down, allowing vocalist Gavin Flint to show off his range with some wonderfully crafted notes packed with emotion, brushed over some airy clean guitar….. although not to be fooled for long as this builds now into what we recognise as an ATW chorus! This song has a really wicked moment in the middle when it goes, only what I can describe as, a bit ‘Jeff Buckley’. Brilliant moment – give us more of this lads!

The final helping is ‘It’s All Ours’, possibly the most alternative track of the EP, and a great way to finish; only enhancing the scope of the ATW appeal. There is a Karnivool feel, you can also hear tinge of potential Skindred influence, but like each track before it, ATW have created an original sound when the chorus kicks in – a real strength and not an easy thing to do!

All in all with ‘Broadcast’, you are left in no doubt what Against the Wheel offer – cutting edge rock with on the money, high tempo choruses. Having a ‘sound’ is everything and this EP confirms ATW have something that could lead to them producing an anthem of tomorrow.
