Dead Park
Rock Zombie, Dudley
March 7th 2013

photo 1 (1)So we’re here! The launch night is upon us for Dudley’s brand new premiere rock and metal venue, Rock Zombie! The place is absolutely packed, and the party has spilled onto the street for what promises to be a stacked bill!

First up are female-fronted Dead Park. We enter the room to an almighty sound, Dead Park are already tearing a hole into the stage. We make sure we’re as close as we can get as there are some technical/sound issues, most notably with the mic.

Despite the obvious hitch Dead Park wow the droves with some stunning guitar play, and mammoth sound as they crash into a thundering finale in ‘The Rising’.

‘Knife to a Gun Fight’ is the next track of the set and builds into a hefty breakdown. The frontwoman delivers a strong vocal, overcoming the sound hitches, and Dead Park establish their tight cohesive play. Dead Park come alive! And so do the crowd!

We’re already seeing a good performance, and it is packed with attitude and metal-oomph that this hungry crowd crave. ‘Divided’ continues to give the people what they want. The track layers, piece by piece building Dead Park’s heavy sound. The breakdown in this is tight, and a highlight is the bassist clubbing the cymbals! Top stuff!

The band wrap up with the Goliath sound of ‘Hulk Smash’. The vocal is finally ramped up and we like what we hear. The drums and bass rumble every chest in the room, and this track really packs a punch.

All in all the set was a solid one. The band were let down initially by the poor mic levels, but still managed to own it. A good set, and Dead Park have a good deal of potential to make a dent in the Midlands rock scene.

Jaytee says;
I enjoyed these. The sound issues were frustrating (which for the record were not the band’s fault from what we could gather), but once it was ironed out I really got into Dead Park. They’re evidently in their relative infancy as a band, and I’m looking forward to keeping tabs on how they move forward.

Jannetty says;
The first band ever to play Rock Zombie and after tonight I’m sure it won’t be the last time we say them grace the stage. Well delivered songs with some very nice thumping bass lines. All I wanted was a bit more onstage swagger to match the obvious talent on show. Enjoyed it, expect to see Deadpark moving up the bill very soon….
