The Cruz
Eddies, Birmingham
March 28th 2013

IMAG1006Eddie’s is absolutely rocking tonight in Birmingham, and we’re chomping at the bit for more. Stepping up next are The Cruz. 4 young guys hit the stage, and we’re ready to see and hear what they have to offer a buzzing crowd.

The floor is filled as The Cruz kick off with ‘Halo’. The room fills with a huge noise and The Cruz deliver a nice slick start building into a top riff. Actually, we’re hearing a little White Stripes / The Strokes influence to the riff. It’s high energy, and it’s a catchy track with a great solo. Strong start.

And The Cruz aren’t messing around, “1, 2, 3, 4!!”, and we’re straight into the next track. It’s a top floor-filler in the form of Foo Fighters’, Monkey Wrench. The stage and floor is bouncing, and it’s a nice little addition to the set.

‘Follow You Down’ is due for release by the band in the next few weeks, and we’re treated to rapid fire showing. There’s a bit of a punk feel to The Cruz’ sound, almost Green Day, meets the Foos, meets The Hives, meets White Stripes. And they have a decent look too. Another good track, which we look forward to hearing again one it’s out!

Next on the setlist is “a bit of a slow one” in the form of ‘Denial’. There’s a nice quality to the vocals that really shines through in this track. Harmonies come together in this track, and there’s a really fitting solo slotted seamlessly into this one. Great stuff!

‘Red Feathers’ again gives off the pop rock/punk vibe that is now established by The Cruz as their sound. It’s yet another top track, and The Cruz keep raising the bar in their own performance.

Last up is a new track, ‘Limbo Vision’. Tight intro on this track, and the place is jumping. The crowd eat up The Cruz’ performance, and it’s a great finale to their set.

The Cruz delivered a very strong performance tonight, maintaining the high standards of the evening and delighting the crowd. Really enjoyable stuff.

Jaytee says;
The Cruz had pressure on them to deliver after the earlier performances of the evening, an they didn’t disappoint. Keen to see and hear more from these guys, and touring with Eva Plays Dead is proving a great way to get their sound heard. Let’s hope we hear more in 2013 from these guys!

Jannetty says;
In as strong an unsigned night that you will see, The Cruz held their own. Young, fresh and eager to please the small following they had who loved every second of it. Will be keen to see how they develop this year….
